Launched in 1987, JUMBO Seafood was once just a single outlet in East Coast Seafood Centre. Today, that very outlet functions as their flagship restaurant, flourishing into one out of many restaurants in Singapore and China, as well as multiple franchises all over Asia! Claiming to be behind the ‘Birth of Singapore-Style Seafood’, JUMBO Seafood is a household name that rings across generations.
Taking its inspiration from the multicultural scene of Singapore, JUMBO Seafood combines different Southeast Asian spices to create unique and traditional flavours that shine through in their dishes. Their Chilli Crab recipe, for example, is derived from a mix of Indian and Malay spices such as turmeric, lemongrass, chillies and candlenuts; on top of Chinese fermented bean paste; as well as tomato sauce that’s popular among Westerners.
The vision that drives the JUMBO Seafood team is plain and simple – they do what they do best, and that is to bring the best seafood in Singapore to their customers. And have they managed to do so? A quick glance at their menu echoes a resounding ‘yes’!

Have your crab cooked in an array of different styles, such as the Award-Winning Chilli Crab, Signature Black Pepper Crab, Stir-fried with Pepper and Spiced Salt Crab, Steamed Crab with Chinese Wine and Egg White, Stir-fried with Golden Salted Egg Crab, Stir-fried with Ginger and Spring Onions Crab, Stir-fried ‘Kum Hiong’ Style Crab, or the Wok Baked Butter Cream Crab.
Every meal starts with a good appetiser; recommendations include the Pepper and Salt Spiced Fish Skin ($10 per portion), Chilled Live Prawns with Mango and Pomelo ($14) or, if you’re feeling particularly indulgent, the Chilled Live Local Lobster Platter ($100). Follow up with a bowl of hearty soup, such as the Supreme Seafood Soup ($30) or Seafood and Seasonal Vegetable Soup ($14).

If you’re raring to have some meat, you won’t go wrong with the Baby Lamb Rack Grilled with Pepper and Honey Sauce ($16), Mocha Pork Ribs ($22), Venison (Deer Meat) Stir-fried with Ginger and Spring Onions ($20), or the Golden Phoenix Chicken ($18 for Half, $34 for Whole).

If you wish, you can even D.I.Y. your own vegetable dish by choosing a base – Asparagus, Broccoli, ‘Dou Miao’, Baby ‘Kai Lan’ or ‘Kang Kong’ – and have it stir-fried with minced garlic, oyster sauce, sambal, or X.O. sauce.

If you’re the type to end every meal on a sweet note, you’d be delighted to try the Chilled Mango Sago Pomelo ($5), Sweet Yam Paste with Pumpkin and Sweet Potato ($5), or the Chilled Lime Jelly with Mixed Fruits ($14). If you don’t wish to go to the hassle of choosing individual dishes, there are also various Set Meals and Bundle Sets available. There’s basically something for everyone!

Restaurant Experience
With six outlets scattered all over Singapore, their East Coast branch is perhaps the most scenic of the lot. Located by the sea, JUMBO Seafood East Coast offers diners the opportunity to dine – with a view! Enjoy the sea breeze in your hair as you dine under the stars, or watch the skies light up in brilliant hues of red and orange as the sun begins to set (yes, JUMBO Seafood East Coast is a prime sunset spot as well!).

Their East Coast outlet consists of a two-storey building; the lower level comprises alfresco seating, with the upper level being air-conditioned for those who like to dine in comfort. Plus, their East Coast branch was their original branch, dating all the way back to 1987 – perfect for those who love a little nostalgia.
As crabs are one of their most popular items on the menu, the restaurant readily offers paper aprons to customers who are worried about sauce splattering on themselves during their meal. After all, they encourage diners to not be afraid to use their hands to dig in; how else will they be able to lick every bit of gravy off all ten of their fingers?
